Troubling Dreams: Unlocking the Door to Self-Awareness

When life’s stressors get to be overwhelming they often take a toll on a woman’s emotional and mental state of mind and many times these outer and inner fears cause horrible nightmares. Women are more likely than men to be diagnosed with depression and post-traumatic stress disorder; panic disorder, specific phobias and generalized anxiety disorder each affect twice as many women as men (National Institute of Mental Health). Women do not understand nor can they deal with the problems nightmares represent.

In Troubling Dreams: Unlocking the Door to Self-Awareness (October 2011, New Horizon Press), Sadie E. Strick, Ph.D., shows women how they can use their bad dreams as tools for recognizing and figuring out their deepest problems. Drawing on her twenty-eight years of research studying and aiding clients, Dr. Strick has helped hundreds of women understand themselves and explore their life issues. Often dreams communicate, according to Dr. Strick, who and what we are and what is really troubling us. Dr. Strick reveals that dreams can express emotions that are hidden. The images and stories they tell are often those most difficult to think or talk about when awake. Traumatic experiences are uncovered and past and present dilemmas as well as hopes for the future become subjects for dreams. Dr. Strick outlines the methods, strategies and steps to use in understanding and then utilizing our dreams to move forward when we’re conflicted by problems and stressors in our relationships, ambitions and goals, both personal and professional.

Troubling Dreams: Unlocking the Door to Self-Awareness will give readers the keys to understanding symbols in their dreams and dealing with important issues the dreams reveal, such as emotional stress, digestive problems, phobias, fears, job stress and feelings of depression. In this illuminating book Dr. Strick offers hope, help and healing for nightmares by revealing how to: Alleviate stress through dream interpretation, Unlock the meaning of troubling dreams, Become empowered using dreams.
